3 Tips For Your First Time Skydiving

Blog

Many people dream about skydiving for a long time before actually trying it. In fact, skydiving is a top item on many people's bucket lists, according to research. Once you decide to actually fulfill your dream of skydiving, it's normal to feel a little nervous. While skydiving is completely safe, it's still a very adventurous thing to do and you may not know what to expect. Here are a few tips to ensure your first time skydiving is stress-free:

Be Sure to Dress Appropriately

Your skydiving facility will likely provide you with a jumpsuit to wear over your clothes. Underneath the jumpsuit, you will want to wear fitted, comfortable clothes, such as workout pants and a tank top. If you're skydiving on a cold day, a fitted long-sleeve shirt is a good idea. You don't want to wear baggy clothes, since they can get tangled in your jumpsuit when you're flying through the air.

Most importantly, you will need to wear close-toed shoes, such as tennis shoes. Make sure they fit properly. If your shoes are too loose, you may lose them when you jump out of the plane. Avoid wearing jewelry just to be on the safe side.

Have a Healthy, Light Meal Beforehand

Skydiving on an empty stomach is a bad idea because you may be anxious before your jump and not eating can lead to feeling lightheaded or dizzy. Plan ahead to have a light, healthy meal or snack. It's also important to stay hydrated. Skydiving when you're not feeling well physically is a lot less fun, so avoid drinking alcohol the night before your flight and be sure to get a full night's sleep.

Stay Calm on the Flight

If you feel nervous on the flight, focus on taking slow, deep breaths to calm yourself. You may also want to chat with the instructor, as they will likely have reassuring words to share with you. Keep in mind that in a short time, you will be experiencing flight, which is one of the most exhilarating experiences you can have. Afterward, you will feel so proud of yourself for fulfilling an exciting bucket list item and doing something fun but a little scary.

Following these tips and listening to your skydiving instructor will make your first skydiving experience as fun as possible. Afterward, you will have photos or a video to remember the experience. Hopefully, it will be the first of many skydiving adventures.
